Postgraduate Diploma in Strategies for Socioeconomic Well-Being

Coordinator: Dr. Lorena Pérez-Roa

Description:

This program draws on the experience of distinguished professionals in the field of financial education and the work of our R&D Core on Socioeconomic Relations, where we have addressed topics such as indebtedness, consumption, economic autonomy, and critical financial education.

In this program, we understand the economy as a social science, where economic phenomena result from complex interactions among diverse factors that go beyond purely financial considerations. Therefore, from our perspective, addressing well-being requires a multidimensional approach that incorporates not only economic factors but also political, social, psychological, cultural, and territorial dimensions.

The concept of well-being has been widely linked to social, political, and economic stability. Specifically, well-being refers to the capacity of individuals to access the necessary conditions to lead a dignified life. But what exactly do we mean by these conditions?

Traditionally, well-being—particularly economic well-being—has been interpreted from a perspective that tends to present the economic system as independent of people. It focuses on indicators such as GDP, unemployment, or inflation, neglecting the human and social dimensions of economic phenomena. However, these interpretations do not always reflect the complexity of what it truly means to live well, both individually and collectively.

This diploma aims to provide tools and knowledge for the design and implementation of strategies that promote comprehensive socioeconomic well-being. Through a multidisciplinary approach, we seek to equip participants to understand and address current challenges, placing people and their contexts at the center of economic and policy decisions.
